Seeing as I am really into making my own hamburgers at the moment and bread sometimes just doesn’t go with a burger especially with all my toppings.
Store bought rolls are another thing all together, some are burnt, some are raw, some are stale and sometimes the plain rolls are old sold out.
To put myself out of that misery I decided to try making my own homemade burger rolls, I came across this recipe on the Allrecipes page and it screamed at me… so simple, so easy and sooo tasty.
Ingredients
250ml x milk.
125ml x water.
¼ x cup margarine.
4 ½ x cups cake flour.
1 x packet of instant yeast.
2 x tbsp. sugar.
1 ½ x tsp salt
1 x egg
Method:
In a small saucepan, heat milk, water and margarine until warm. This mixture must not boil. Just hot enough so the margarine melts and steam starts coming out of the pan
In a large bowl, mix together 1 3/4 cup flour, yeast, sugar and salt.
Mix milk mixture into flour mixture, and then mix in egg.
Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each addition.
When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape into smooth balls, and place on a greased baking sheet. Flatten slightly. Cover, and let rise for 30 to 35 minutes.
Bake at 180 degreese for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
For an added extra sprinkle some sesame seeds over the top before baking.
These rolls come out so massive and are so soft and a perfect combination to go with your homemade burger patties.
Good bye store bought tasteless rolls.
