I love coke, I drink coke every minute or every day of the week.
I will wake up in the wee hours of the morning, thirsty and craving coke. Apparently this is a bad habit, but what can I say, everyone has a flaw and mine just happens to be my addiction to coca cola.
I am trying alternatives because water just doesn’t seem to be giving me that kick that the caffeine in coke normally does.
Then I came across a recipe for homemade lemonade by Ree Drummond and seeing as I did just happen to buy myself a juice dispenser with a tap attached, this recipe was just up my street.
Of course I did have to go out and buy 2 dozen lemons.
I have had a food processor for about 5 years, it was the first thing I went out and bought when I decided to start this culinary journey and well this past season of My Kitchen Rules Australia has just showed me how much I under use my food processor.
I just threw the juicing attachment to the side never to be used, but seeing as I had to juice 2 dozen lemons, I decided to put the juicing attachment to use and let me just say, I was blown away. Juicing that amount of lemons went soo quickly it was a real breeze, I really should watch more Australian cooking shows.
I loved this lemonade, so much better than coke and no caffeine, my mother found it to be a bit tart and my dad found it not to be as sweet as he thought it would be and when I told him that there was 4 cups of sugar in there his sugar levels shot through the roof… just kidding.
Ingredients:
- 4 x cups plain white sugar.
- 2 x dozen lemons.
- 6 x cups water.
Method:
- Juice the lemons, pour through a strainer and set aside.
- Place the water and sugar in a bowl and boil till the sugar has dissolved.
- Remove from the stove and mix in the lemon juice.
- Allow to cool completely before pouring yourself a glass full.
