Olaf’s snowballs

Yes, I am guilty of watching Frozen sooo many times, that I literally know all the songs to every number and yes yes I have also fallen victim to buying a ton of Frozen goodies from tshirts to bags to cups to plates and even to outfits. What can I say, sometimes an Aunty just has to do what an aunty has to do, even if the cashier looks at your purchases like you have somehow lost your marbles.

I recently purchased a Disney favourite cookbook. Yes again, at my age, I still love Disney.

I came across a recipe that was supposedly Olaf’s favourite and when I mentioned theses to my nieces they were all but ready to hop on a plane and fly over here to try these out. But alas they were stopped and I had to eat one of these treats for them… talk about a sugar high…. I am not sure I am ever going to be thin again.

These balls were super easy to make and they didn’t require the stove to be used. Just mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, pop into the fridge, shape and enjoy.

My mother gave her verdict on these and she loved them. She hid them away from my dad as she said he will get a sugar high and bounce off the walls but he spied them in the fridge hiding behind the broccoli and when he heard they had condense milk in, he was complaining there goes his sugar away he will have to drink 10 glasses of hot water just for one ball.

My verdict, I loved everything about them, from eating them to making them. Shaping them was a ball, so easy and they stayed round. Seriously I was expecting them to become wonky and oblong like most of the things I try to shape, but they stayed round.

Ingredients:

  • 125g x desiccated coconut.
  • 200g x condense milk.
  • Hazlenuts

Method:

  • Mix 100g of the coconut with the condense milk.
  • Refrigerate for 3 hours.
  • Scoop a little of the mixture into your hand and place a nut in the middle of the mixture.
  • Using your hands shape the mixture into a ball around the nut.
  • Roll into the remaining coconut mixture.
  • Pop into the fridge to chill for an hour before serving.
